Well as some of you may know I am a gamer. Gamer I mean as video gamer. Yes I have been called the works geek, lazy, couch potato(even though i don't play my games on the couch) and other more extravagant names that escape my mind. Anyway, in the beginning I played most of my games on platform systems such as Gamecube(Nintendo) the Playstation(Sony) and the Xbox(Microsoft). More recently I have been playing most of on my newly acquired laptop computer( Go PC ). Just so you know I play games anywhere from the rating of E to M. I play all types of games RTS, RPG, FPS, and more recently MMORPG. If you are wondering what that stands for here it goes ( Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Wow try to say that it is a mouthful. Anyway my new MMORPG game of choice is World of Warcraft. The basic layout of the game is you :choose your side, make your guy,and spend countless numbers of hours making you guy stronger as to kill the other team. All of the while you are in this massive computer generated world. Now to get to the meat of the matter...I believe in God. Now some of the old people of the church bound to tradition would say that what i do in the game is witchcraft and is possessed by the Devil. Not to put it to bluntly but that is a load of crap. Now we get into the controversial grey area. I think that a game such as this that you use spells and do "evil" things is easy to become caught up in. But if you use it just as a pass time for fun and it does not become an idol before God then it is no worse then myspace or any of those other sites. I am not going to lie I find the game incredibly fun, but there is line that definitely should not be crossed. You have to tread very softly in this gray area as if walking on ice. I do try my very hardest to do the best i can at putting God first. I even set time limits on myself now. What I'm trying to say is that I don't feel gulity when I start to play because I believe that what I am doing is perfectly ok. I never saw Thou shalt not play video games, but as I said before there is a line. Any opinions( or corrections ) on my logic would be most welcome, because i don't want to walk myself into a hole I can't climb out of. Thank you for reading and once again, this is Drewski signing out.

As a looooooong time game player of all varieties (I was playing computer games before you were born) I definitely agree with you on your stance, and would continue to set limits for yourself.
Much like TV, work, money, or anything else we can easily slip into "idol worship" mode and let those things consume our lives, but computer games along with most anything else by itself is not evil, it is how we use it.
Also, while computer games are fun (trust me, I have spent YEARS in front of a PC screen) I would encourage you to gome to strategy game night. The next one is actually this Friday night at the Schnabels house. It is SERIOUS fun, and as a long time PC gamer there is some old school fun whipping out the board game. If you need a ride or anything I am sure you could even get hooked up. You would know tons of people there, and trust me, you would have a BLAST.
Dude I'm there you have no idea how excited i am
As a game player (maybe before ryan was born) I also appreciate you position. I do have a little bit different take. I be came addicted to online gaming to the point that I was spending 6 to 8 hours a day playing. My family was suffering and I was suffering. I did not realize it at the time, and I never saw it coming. Like you I was having a blast. Like you I did not want it to become an idol, but something funny happened along the way. I did not have someone that I would listen to (key point listen to) telling me that I had crossed the line. My wife was telling me but I was not listening. The other thing that happened was that Everything became "it's only a game") I opened myself up to many things that I should not have. I ended up not gaming online for about five years, and now only occasionally.
My only advise is listen to those around you even if you think that they are over reacting. I agree with Ryan you will have a blast at the game night.....
